Weight loss hypnotherapy, online and in Hertfordshire
Stop starting again on Monday
You already know what to eat. The hard part is the snacking at nine at night, the second helping you didn’t really want, and the diet that goes well for three weeks and then quietly stops.
Weight loss hypnotherapy works on that part: the habits and feelings that keep pulling you back to food. Many people find the pull gets weaker, and the healthy choice starts to feel like their own.
When food has become the way you cope
Maybe it’s the biscuit tin after a stressful day, grazing all evening once the house goes quiet, or finishing the plate long after you stopped enjoying it.
Then comes the guilt, the promise to be good tomorrow, and the feeling that everyone else manages this except you. It is tiring, and it can chip away at your confidence.
None of that means you lack willpower. You shouldn’t have to fight your own habits every single evening.
Left as it is, the pattern tends to repeat: another plan, another restart, another year of feeling at war with food.
Where does it go wrong for you?
What can change
- Evenings that don’t revolve around food
- Stopping when you’ve had enough, without a fight
- Eating something you enjoy without the guilt afterwards
- A slip that stays a slip, not a reason to give up
- Feeling more in charge around food, at home, at work and on holiday
Everyone is different, and results vary from person to person. Hypnotherapy works alongside sensible eating, not instead of it.
Someone who understands the pattern
If you’ve tried diet after diet and keep ending up back at the start, you’re not alone, and you haven’t failed. Usually the plan was fine. What never changed were the habits and feelings underneath it.
I know what it’s like to carry weight you don’t want. I changed my own eating and training using the same approaches I now use with clients, so I won’t ask you to do anything I haven’t done myself.

I’m Adam Cox, a clinical hypnotherapist with 17 years in practice. I have a degree in psychology, and a Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, both with Distinction, from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis and the University of West London. That makes me one of the few UK hypnotherapists with post-graduate qualifications in clinical hypnotherapy.
I built my practice on Harley Street and now work with most clients online, with face-to-face sessions in Hertfordshire at the same price. I host The Hypnotist podcast, which has passed 20 million downloads, and I’ve talked about hypnosis and habits on BBC Victoria Derbyshire, BBC One, ITV and Sky News.
How it works
- Take the free testAnswer a few questions and try two quick hypnosis experiments. In about 4 minutes you get an honest answer about whether hypnotherapy is likely to help with your goal and, if it looks like a good fit, a free hypnosis download to start with.
- Talk it throughOn a 30 minute consultation call we look at your eating, what you have tried and what you want to change. I will be honest about whether I can help. Use code SLIM at checkout for half price: £24.50 instead of £49 (or $29.50 outside the UK). The fee comes off your first session.
- Start your sessionsOver Zoom, or face to face in Hertfordshire at the same price. Each session combines hypnosis with practical habit change, and you keep a recording of the hypnosis to listen to between sessions. We agree a number of sessions that makes sense for you.
Is it right for you?
Hypnotherapy works best alongside sensible eating and moving more, not instead of them. It can make those changes feel easier and more natural, but you still have to want them, and results vary from person to person. I work with adults only.

Common questions
Does hypnosis work for weight loss?
It may help some people, but it isn’t magic. In older trials, adding hypnosis to a structured weight programme increased average weight loss, although other researchers reading the same studies judged the extra benefit to be small. It works best alongside sensible eating and your own commitment. Read my honest summary of the evidence.
Can everyone be hypnotised?
Most people can, to some degree. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention, a bit like being absorbed in a good film, and you don’t need to be especially suggestible. My free suitability test gives you an idea of how you’re likely to respond. More on who can be hypnotised.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you want to change. Some people want to work on one habit and others on several, so we agree a number that makes sense for you in your consultation. I won’t promise results within a set number of sessions. See session options.
How much does it cost?
A consultation is £49, or £24.50 with code SLIM, and the fee comes off your first session. Sessions are £399 for 60 minutes or £499 for 90 minutes, and packages bring the price per session down. Recorded store sessions are £9.99. Full prices and packages.
Do sessions work online?
Yes. Most of my clients work with me online over Zoom, and in my experience the results are the same as face to face. Research on talking therapies in general has found video sessions no less effective than in person, though there are no direct trials for weight-loss hypnotherapy. Online and Hertfordshire sessions.
Will I lose control?
No. You stay aware throughout, you can hear everything, and you can open your eyes and stop at any time. Hypnosis can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do. More about working with me.
Is there anything free I can try?
Yes. You can get two free downloads from my store, listen to hundreds of free sessions on my podcast, and take my free four-minute suitability test. See everything you can try free.
What is food noise, and can hypnosis help?
Food noise is the name people give to constant, intrusive thoughts about food. Hypnotherapy may help some people turn the volume down by working on attention, habits and the feelings underneath, alongside sensible eating. No one can promise it will stop completely. Read more about food noise.
